Ben Tre's Agricultural Sector Maintains High Growth and Comprehensive Development
Ben Tre province's agriculture sector thrived in 2024, exceeding expectations in several areas. Organic coconut cultivation expanded significantly, surpassing the target by 225%. High-tech shrimp farming and the establishment of planting area codes also saw substantial progress. The province achieved remarkable results in new rural development, exceeding targets for recognizing new, enhanced, and model rural communes. Technological advancements included the implementation of software for food safety management, traceability of agricultural products, and an e-commerce platform to support local ornamental plants. Looking ahead to 2025, the sector aims for a growth rate of 2.99% and prioritizes preventing saltwater intrusion, managing diseases in crops and livestock, and ensuring sustainable fishing practices. Vice Chairman Nguyen Minh Canh commended the sector's achievements and emphasized the importance of continued efforts in these key areas.
