Avocado Popularity Continues to Rise in Europe
Avocado popularity continues to grow in Europe, with Spain leading in household consumption. Italy represents an emerging market with strong growth potential. This increasing demand is partly driven by consumers seeking healthy lifestyles and meat alternatives, as avocados offer a nutritious and flavorful option. Fluctuations in global supply have impacted avocado prices. Increased volumes from Colombia initially caused a price drop for Hass avocados, while Peruvian supply remained modest. Lower European demand and competition led to falling prices in Peru, contrasting with stable prices in Chile due to strong global demand and limited supply. Production in both South Africa and Spain is increasing, with Spain shifting towards Hass avocados. The Israeli season began with abundant Ettinger avocados, with larger Pinkerton avocados expected soon, followed by Fuerte and Maluma Hass varieties. The Colombian season is ending, while Morocco offers a good alternative with large-sized avocados.
