Australia Finalizes Agricultural Exports to UAE Under New Trade Deal
The Australia-UAE Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) removes tariffs on nearly all Australian exports, including key agricultural products. This agreement, finalized by Minister Julie Collins, will significantly benefit Australian fresh fruit and other agriculture exporters. The accompanying Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) focuses on investment in sustainable agriculture and food systems, promoting opportunities for Australian producers in the lucrative UAE market and broader Middle East region. The MoU prioritizes projects that reduce greenhouse gas emissions, improve land management, and utilize climate-smart technologies. This landmark agreement includes a dedicated chapter on sustainable agriculture, ensuring food security and recognizing the importance of emissions reductions without hindering trade.
