Arabica Coffee Prices Surge, Opening Doors for Vietnamese Robusta in Northern Europe
Arabica coffee prices are predicted to rise significantly in Sweden due to extreme weather impacting global production. This presents a prime opportunity for Vietnamese Robusta coffee to expand its market share. Brazil, the world's leading coffee producer, has experienced declining yields due to severe weather, driving up the cost of Arabica beans, the preferred variety in Sweden. These rising green coffee bean prices, coupled with the depreciation of the Swedish krona against the US dollar, are expected to double coffee prices in Sweden this year. Vietnam, renowned for its Robusta coffee, offers a more affordable and climate-resilient alternative. While Arabica is favored in Northern Europe, the significant price difference may encourage importers to consider Robusta. Vietnamese exporters should capitalize on this opportunity by promoting high-quality Robusta, highlighting its sustainability, and potentially offering blends that cater to Northern European tastes.
