After the merger, the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment streamlines numerous entities, expected to retain 30 units
The Ministry of Agriculture and Environment is undergoing a significant restructuring. Following the merger of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment and the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, the new ministry will consolidate from 53 units to 30. This streamlining aims to enhance efficiency and avoid overlapping responsibilities. Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha emphasized the importance of a clear definition of tasks and functions for the new ministry, focusing on green transition, environmental protection, and ensuring food security through sustainable agricultural practices. The Ministry will oversee diverse areas including agriculture, forestry, fisheries, natural disaster prevention, and land and water resource management. This comprehensive approach aims to promote sustainable development and address the challenges of climate change. Deputy Prime Minister Ha stressed that the restructuring should not simply merge existing structures but should incorporate updated legal regulations and innovative management approaches to land, resources, environment, and agriculture in Vietnam.
