110 Vessels Embark on Tet Tuna Fishing Expedition
The Hon Ro fishing port in Nha Trang city buzzed with activity as 110 fishing vessels prepared for a tuna fishing expedition during the Tet holiday. The Khanh Hoa Department of Agriculture and Rural Development held a launch ceremony, wishing fishermen a bountiful harvest and reminding them to adhere to fishing regulations. Director Nguyen Duy Quang highlighted the province's 3,418 fishing vessels and their contribution to the local economy. He emphasized the importance of complying with regulations against illegal fishing practices. Fishermen loaded their vessels with supplies like ice, fuel, and provisions for the extended trip. Many, like fisherman Nguyen Sau, aim to catch tuna at the Truong Sa fishing grounds and offshore platforms. They hope for a successful trip, returning with a large catch to celebrate the Lunar New Year. This peak tuna fishing season provides an opportunity for fishermen to earn a living and contribute to Vietnam's maritime sovereignty.
